Kingdom Investment

Why Invest in God’s Kingdom?

Why would you want to invest in God's Kingdom? That's a hard question for most people... does God need my/our money? Pause for a second and really think about that... of course He doesn't! He owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalms 50:10), and it would be silly to think He needs our money. He owns everything and controls the outcome of everything on earth.

Does God want my/our money? Pause for a second and really think about that... of course He doesn't, but it's a trick question. God wants all of us(Deuteronomy 6:4-9), all that we are — to include our time, talents, and treasures. God doesn't want some of us; He wants all of us, and our surrender to His will because we trust that He knows what He is doing. Some in our modern world have said that they give time instead of treasure, and that is dead wrong (Malachi 3:8-12, Luke 11:42) but God blesses richly and lets us decide what to give (2 Corinthians 9:6-11). I would encourage you to give cheerfully and generously with all that you are.

Rather than a compulsion or obligation to give, decide in your heart that you "get" to give and join God in His great work. Consider the example of the boy who gave his lunch to help out (John 6:5-13). God took this small offering and multiplied it beyond our comprehension. Who among us wouldn't want to go back and buy one Bitcoin in 2011 for $1.00? This month it traded at over $120,000.00 per coin. Again, who among us wouldn't want to have bought stock in Tesla, IBM, Apple, or Standard Oil at $1 per share. God's return, in this life and the one to come, far outweighs the modest returns available in these earthly examples, so we offer you the invitation and ability to join God in His work.

Problem Parables: The Shrewd Manager

Dr. Stanley Toussaint (deceased), Senior Professor Emeritus of Bible Exposition at Dallas Theological Seminary, teaches from the Parable of the Shrewd Manager and issues the challenge to leverage influence and money for the Gospel of the Good News of Jesus. The beginning of this video also includes a 2-minute introduction of Dr. Toussaint.

Note: The shrewd manager did not steal from his master. As was the custom of the day, he merely forgave his cut of the profit on the spot to those who owed his master. Today, we would say he took his commission off the top at the time of the invoice and credited said commission to each debtor’s account.
